Of course, Buffy didn't expect there to be any trouble at her new school, except of course for her permanent records, but that's another matter entirely. What she got was a librarian called Giles, who as soon as look at Buffy dumped a volume entitled "Vampyr" in front of her. Understandably she bolted. However, Buffy soon had to come to terms with the fact that she was still The Slayer when she had to save her proto-friend Jesse. During her time at Sunnydale High, Buffy made several lasting friends, including Willow and Xander. She found love in Angel, lost it, found it, then lost it again. She's run for Homecoming Queen, saved the world on numerous occasions, and even "volunteered" to be in the school Talent(less) Show. After high school, she manged two years of college. During that time, she dated and fell in love with the Psychology TA Riley. A sister, Dawn, was introduced into her life thanks to a group of obscure monks. She worked for, then destroyed, a military organisation called the Initiative. Riley started paying vampiresses to suck his blood, then broke it off with her and ran off with the Army to the Jungle. All during this time she was battling a Hell God intent on destroying Dawn so she could get "home", and taking care of her mother who was sick with Cancer. By the end of those rough couple years, she had lost her mother due to complications after surgery and died saving her sister from Glory. Willow, Tara , Xander, and Anya decided that Buffy must have fallen to her death and landed right in a hell dimension. Given that she must be going through torture, they opted to bring her back to life. Only, she wasn't in a hell dimension, she was in Heaven. Oddly enough, the only person who knew of and understood her predicament with her friends was Spike. She spent much of the next year self-involved in her own misery. She managed to start and end a romantic relationship with Spike, her bleached undead nemesis. That year pretty much ended in everyone going through a bit of self-desctruction. This last year she worked hard to rebuild relationships with her sister and her friends. She worked part-time as a guidance counselor at the newly rebuilt Sunnydale Highschool. With the First Evil in town, we also saw her working harder than she ever has before. She's caring for not only herself and her sister, but the other SITs (Slayers in Training), her "family", a newly souled vampire as well. She fought her greatest battle with everything she had and ulimately won in the end. WILLOW ROSENBERG Willow Rosenburg is Buffy's best friend and is often called upon to do the "best friend listening thing". Something of a wallflower when we first met her, Willow has certainly blossomed over the seasons. Since finding out that Jenny Calender was a Techno-Pagan she has certainly been very interested in the wiccan arts, and her witchcraft has certainly saved the Scoobies on more than one occasion. Willow has a kind heart - one that even shines through an eskimo costume - and her first proper relationship was with Oz, the guitarist for "Dingoes Ate My Baby". However, she almost ruined everything for herself when she had an affair of sorts with Xander, who had always been the one she loved before Oz had appeared. Oz left Willow during Season Four, and since then Willow has been spending more and more time with a fellow wiccan called Tara. ALEXANDER HARRIS Alexander LaVelle Harris first made his mark on us by colliding with a rail whilst riding his skateboard, badly. His skateboard that has never seen the light of day again. Still, never mind. Xander and Willow have been the best of friends since they were little. They even went out for a while, at least until Xander broke Willow's barbie. Xander has been the everyman character for the Scooby Gang since its beginnings and it is for this that we love him. He may not be a Slayer like Buffy, a witch like Willow or a Werewolf like Oz, but what he does have is a strong heart and the courage it takes to come through time after time. I suppose that's why he's referred to as "The Loyal". In Season 5 and 6 we see a stronger side. His pure determination to protect has served him, and his friends, well. During the fights with Glory down to his battle in the finale of the sixth season, his will is stronger than anyone could have ever imagined possible. Though his relationship with Anya came to an abrupt halt, his heart remained strong for his dearest friends. In his years on the show, his character has undergone serious changes. Originally, the Big Bad came to town with his beloved Drusilla in search of a cure for her weakness. While he was at it, he figured he would bag his third Slayer. He did indeed find a cure for his Dark Princess, but not without consequence. Shortly after her recovery, Angelus came back into the fold once he lost his soul. Realizing that Angelus was taking his Princess from him, and intended on ending the world, he aligned himself with the Slayer. In the end, he was able to escape to Brazil with Dru after Angel met his fate. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done to their relationship. Believing that the Slayer had got her hooks into him and that he had gone soft, Dru left him for a Chaos demon. He was able to get her back for a short time, but in the end she left him for good. He finally decided to exact his revenge on the Slayer once again figuring that she was to blame for all his problems. The Iniative had other plans for him, and they implanted a chip in his brain that prevents him from harming humans. Luckily for his seriously bad temper, he can still take out his frustrations on other demons. With nowhere else to turn, he aligned himself once again with the Slayer. Though never earning the trust required to become a full-fledged Scooby, he always managed to help out in the stickiest of situations. During season five and six we begin to see a softer side of Spike. He develops a love for his mortal enemy, and obsesses over her. Though he proves his worth to her time and time again as an ally, she would never admit to deeper feelings for an "evil souless dead thing." They had a short-lived affair during season six, and it ended badly. While he tried to lure her to the darker side of life, Buffy did her fair share and abused him both mentally and physcially. In the end she admitted taking advantage of him. He took it hard and at first made futile attempts to change her mind. Realizing that she would never accept him as he was, he made a trip to Africa. At the end of Season 6, we see Spike earning his soul through physical trials. Season 7, the final season for the series, proved to be interesting for our favorite bleached blonde vamp. In the first episodes his new soul, along with previous experiences with Buffy, served to shatter his mind. It was a tough ride for him to earn his redemption, and the trust of his Slayer. It seemed at first that his past hurt, compounded with his fragile psyche and manipulations of the First Evil, would turn him into the Big Bad once again. However, in the end he proved his worth as a valued member of their gang. He paid the ultimate price; he paid with his life. | ||||
